Where lines cross — whether deliberately or through the logic of gesture — the composition either holds or it doesn't. Parallels and Intersections holds: the crossings create tension that the open ground between the lines releases, the whole composition arriving at a balance that feels inevitable rather than arranged.

Each mark is made by hand without underdrawing. The lines vary in weight, in speed, in the degree to which they press into the acrylic ground — qualities that a print cannot possess and that give this modern abstract wall decor its material authority. The relief catches light from the side; in raking light the marks read as physical events in the surface, not flat passages of colour.

The neutral ground is neither plain nor passive. Applied in layers by hand, it carries warmth and the slight variation of a worked surface — a ground that supports the black marks and gives them room to breathe. The composition works at both distances: at arm's length the individual marks read as gestures; from across the room the overall structure resolves into something architectural and resolved.
